Budget Rent a Car is one of the world's top rental agencies.
They have a global presence of over 5,000 mostly franchised
locations, with Budget stands in over 120 countries and territories
including the U.S., Canada, Latin America, Caribbean, Australia and
New Zealand.
The company was founded in Los Angeles in 1958 as a car rental
company for the "budget-minded" personal renter. The name says it
all, really. Since its founding, Budget Rent a Car has helped
to define the car rental industry through precedent-setting products
and services. Whether moving or highway cruising, Budget Rent A Car
System wants to rent you wheels. It also is one of the largest
renters of moving trucks (with over 3,000 US rental dealers),
including Budget trucks and the onetime-familiar yellow trucks
acquired from Ryder. Currently, the company is part of Cendant
Car Rental Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cendant Corporation.
Cendant, which also owns industry pioneer Avis Group Holdings,
acquired the company in November of 2002, as well as hotel brands
like Ramada, Super 8 Motels, Howard Johnsons
and Days Inn.

Budget.com is the best looking site that the Travelsites.com team
has seen for renting a car online. It is easy on the eyes,
with calming shades of blue. It smartly incorporates touches
of orange for accent and user navigation cues. The user's eyes
are drawn to the merchandising area at the bottom left and middle of
the screen. The site shows consumers the best deals for the
day and the Budget brand promise tenets on the bottom.
One curious bit about the site is that all the pages are securely
served as of this report. Travelsites editors wonder if this
will change in the future.
