Site Features:
Car rental engine, frequent renter club, maps and information, hot
rental deals, weather information, hotels and air provided by WWTE,

Site Report:
Dollar Rent A car was founded in Los Angeles in 1965. It's primary
focus was on providing good value to every consumer, every time.
This marketing message of being the low cost provider in the rental
car space has made Dollar rent a car a favorite with consumers and
investors alike. Today, the Dollar network of franchisees and owned
stores is part of Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group. Together with
sister company Thrifty, Dollar now has 8,300 employees.
Dollar is a big car rental company, though not the size of Hertz or
Avis. It currently operates 75,000 rental cars in the United States
and over 188,000 worldwide. Because of it's earlier ownership
situation (Chrysler Motor Corporation and their subsidiary Pentastar
owned Dollar for a while), Dollar offers DaimlerChrysler vehicles,
including the Chrysler 300 and the Sebring convertible; the Dodge
Neon and Stratus; the Chrysler Pacific and Dodge Caravan minivan;
and the Jeep® Cherokee.
Today, Dollar Rent A Car has more then 260 suburban and on-airport
rental car locations at all major airports throughout the United
States. Dollar also has more than 400 car rental locations in 26
countries including Australia, Canada, Caribbean (Antigua, Aruba,
Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, Caymen Islands, Dominican Republic,
Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St. Marten), Central America
(Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama), Mexico, Philippines, Saipan, South
America (Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Uruguay) and the
United States.
Dollar rent a car operates one of the very best travel websites on
the net at dollar.com. They were one of the first car rental
agencies to take direct bookings on the internet, and have continued
to innovate on the technology side since then. For instance,
dollar.com was the first car rental site to sponsor it's own travel
agency site at www.dollartravel.com. This meant that folks that went
to dollar could then reserve hotel and air travel as well.
Dollar.com was also the first site to build it's own travel
affiliate program, where sites like travelsites.com could link over
and make a few dollars on consumer transactions (It's no wonder we
like them so much!).
More recently, dollar was the first to allow consumers to book using
wireless devices like phones and pdas. At Mobile.dollar.com
you get quick and easy wireless access in a WAP format.
The site is one of the easiest to use, and it's got the best user
interface of any rental car site. The user clearly understands that
the giant booking area is where they should focus their attention,
and this is probably great for driving up the conversion rate at
this site. Although the site uses rollover menus - still something
that hinders novice users more than helps, it is easy to navigate.
You are able to sample all the great travel content -- Travel Maps,
Great Drives, Wireless Car Rental Services, Dollar Airport Parking,
eBags Luggage store, and even check your Vacation Weather report.
The travelsites team awards dollar best in class for www.dollar.com.
