Site Report:
Singapore Airlines is perenially at the top of the list of great airline customer service. They learned that customers have a choice on long haur flights, so they decided to make those flights as pleasurable as possible. This strategy has paid off handsomely.

Singapore Air's story began in May 1947, when Malayan Airways first operated a twin-engined Airspeed Consul between Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh and Penang. Malayan Airways was not to carry on for long. The creation of the Federation of Malaysia in 1963 prompted two name changes; first to Malaysian Airways and then, three years later, to Malaysia-Singapore Airlines (MSA) because it was state owned by the governments of Malaysia and Singapore. MSA ceased to be in October 1972. Soon after, Singapore Airlines, was born.

At its launch, the flag carrier of Singapore had a modest fleet comprising 10 aircraft, a staff of 6,000 and a route network spanning 22 cities in 18 countries. But it had other less tangible assets that turned out to be much more important. 25 years of experience and boundless ambition served to let this little carrier prosper. As the www.singaporeair.com site says, "The little airline from the small island state in Asia became big."

Today Singapore Airlines (SIA) is internationally recognised as one of the world's leading carriers. They were the pioneer of inflight services such as free drinks and complimentary headsets. SIA will also be the first Airline to operate the world's largest aircraft, the Airbus A380, in the first quarter of 2006.

The Singapore Airlines web site is wonderfully useful, easy to navigate, and pleasing to the eye. Singapore Airlines makes a tremendous amount of information easily accessible in an attractive and organized format. The navigation header allow you to see all your choices right up front.

When you visit this web site, be sure to read about KrisWorld, "The World's Most Advanced Inflight Information and Entertainment System!" They've got KrisVision, 20 different channels of movies and short features at every seat. There's KrisSound, 12 stereo audio channels with a variety of music, played on CD! You can also get Nintendo games, destination information, and interactive satellite news. If you can afford a first class ticket, you'll also enjoy the use of their Active Noise Reducing Headphones. All this makes a transcontinental flight actually sound like a lot of fun!
