The hotel was built in 1926, an architecturally accurate replica of a california Mission. Major renovations in 1981, and 1997 returned the landmark Inn to its 1920s grandeur. Moderate Room 12Nov - 15Apr04 - we will be restoring rooms located in the Main Building. The rooms and suites that we will be offering during the project are all located away from the work being done. A stay in a Moderate room provides a romantic glimpse of times past. Moderate rooms were part of the original build in 1927, when the Inn was rebuilt after a fire destroyed the original structure. Quaint, cozy, warm and inviting, these country inn style rooms are more reminiscent of a charming B&B than a large hotel. With charming wood furnishings, ceiling fans, colorful fabrics and plantation shutters, Moderate rooms also feature pleasant baths with pedestal sinks and European bath fixtures. The rooms and suites that we will be offering during the project are all located away from the work being done. Fairmont rooms are comfortable rooms with attractive furnishings, plantation shutters and ceiling fans. Wine Country Junior Suites Wine Country Junior Suites are spacious and warm with a delightful ambiance. Featuring fireplaces surrounded by marble and large comfortable sitting areas with plush couches and chairs, suites also include stunning marble and limestone bathrooms with a jacuzzi tub for two and separate shower. Lighting is dimmer-controlled for just the right atmosphere. A dining table and chairs for two, writing desk, ceiling fan and wide-blade plantation shutters complete the rooms' amenities. Mission Suite:
Mission Suite Mission Suites are the signature suites of The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa. These are the most romantic suites, ideal for couples. These suites are also the most recent additions, constructed in an open floor plan, featuring a two-person oversized jacuzzi tub, centrally located between a four poster king size bed and working fireplace. The suites have a separate seating area, complete with a love seat and two chairs in front of the fireplace. All suites feature patios or balconies with French doors and wide-blade plantation shutters, arched doorways and Saltillo tile accents. Wine Country One Bedroom Suite Wine Country One Bedroom suites provide the ultimate in comfort and privacy, with separate bedrooms, large living rooms with fireplaces, large dining table and chairs and couches. Room lighting is dimmer-controlled and includes sconces and recessed ceiling lights; wide-blade plantation shutters cover the windows. The bathrooms are entirely tiled in polished limestone and marble and include two-person jacuzzi tubs, separate shower, large mirrors, and spacious marble counters. Many Suites feature balconies or decks overlooking the courtyard. To call these comfortable rooms 'elegant and sophisticated' is an understatement. From the San Francisco Airport, take 380 west to 280 north. Bear left onto 19th Avenue and follow across the Golden Gate Bridge (101 north) In the Novato area, exit on Highway 37 east to Vallejo, Napa and Sonoma. At 2nd light on Highway 37, go left onto Highway 121 north. Continue on Highway 121, which bears to the right at the blinking red light. Turn left onto Highway 12 and continue to the Sonoma Plaza. At the Plaza, you will come to a "T" stop; turn left onto West Napa Street (also marked Highway 12). Continue west on W. Napa Street for 1 mile. The road will come to a fork; stay to the right (marked Highway 12) and continue 2 miles north to Boyes Boulevard. Turn left onto Boyes Boulevard. The hotel entrance is the second driveway on the left.
From the Oakland Airport, take Hegenberger Road to I-880 north. Take 980 east to 80/580 west towards Sacremento/Berkeley. Exit to Highway 580 west and cross over the Richmond-San Rafael bridge. Because the Sante will be closed - the Big 3 will be offering an enhanced menu.The Big 3 Diner is located on the north corner of the Inn's grounds and has been pleasing customers for over 75 years with its casual bistro atmosphere, hearty country breakfasts and eclectic American cuisine. Our famous Lemon Pancakes, Eggs Benedict, Big 3 Platters, Barbecued Baby Back Ribs and Pizzas are all specialties. All of our recipes are available upon request. The Big 3 Diner's outstanding cuisine has resulted in its consistently being rated one of the Inn's best restaurants. Tour the back roads of the beautiful Sonoma Valley. Vineyards surround you as you ride through the oldest vineyard in California, Gundlach-Bundschu Vineyards. Enjoy a short break as well as a lovely view of the valley.Bike-Hike-BikeIntermediate Tour. This journey starts with a 5 mile bike ride from the hotel lobby to Bartholomew Park Winery. Once you reach your destination, you will take a 3 mile hike into the picturesque hills behind the winery. You will then have the opportunity to explore the winery's museum before your return ride to the Inn.Bikes equipped with packs and water. Helmets are provided and required.
Sonoma National Golf Course
The championship 18-hole golf course measures 7087 yards and is routed through 177 acres of native oaks, eucalyptus and redwoods. The Sonoma National Golf Club was designed by Sam Whiting and Willie Watson, the architects of the famed Lake Course at San Francisco's Olympic Club. The course was originally built by the Inn in 1926.Golf Course Attire: Collared shirts and bermuda-length shorts are required. Absolutely no denim or metal-spiked shoes.
